On 1–2 December 2025, the German Centre for Research and Innovation Tokyo (DWIH Tokyo) welcomed more than 100 researchers, entrepreneurs, colleagues, and friends to discuss current challenges and emerging approaches to sustainability in Germany and Japan. The symposium opened with remarks by Mr Yoshihide Hirao, Director of the Environment and Economy Division at the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, who underscored the importance of international collaboration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—goals that address not only environmental issues but also economic security and industrial resilience.
