The German Centre for Research and Innovation Tokyo (DWIH) supports the exchange of ideas in areas of knowledge that will be critical in the future through events, networking and showcasing the work of German and international scholars. We focus on topics particular to the Japanese research and innovation landscape, as well as the single, unifying topic chosen by the program committee for all six DWIH's each year.

DWIH Tokyo organises professional events on focal topics of innovation and research, e.g. symposia on AI or autonomous driving, where experts can exchange ideas and network. As a public body within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we strive to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Disability Equality Act (BGG) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Status of compliance with requirements
The accessibility requirements are set out in Sections 3 (1) to (4) and 4 of the BITV 2.0, which was enacted on the basis of Section 12d BGG.
Compliance with the requirements was verified on the basis of a self-assessment carried out on 3 November 2025.

Based on the review, the website is partially compliant with the aforementioned requirements due to the following exceptions. The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons.

Color Contrast (WCAG 1.4.3)
In individual areas, text does not offer sufficient color contrast against the background, which impairs readability for visually impaired users. A complete revision of the color scheme constitutes a disproportionate burden (§ 12a para. 6 BGG) within the current legacy system and will be implemented during the next website relaunch.

We are endeavouring to implement an accessible offering as soon as possible.

The BGG conciliation body is responsible for supporting out-of-court dispute resolution in conflicts relating to accessibility between people with disabilities and federal public authorities.
