This symposium discusses how jurisprudence should respond to the climate crisis we are currently facing and aims to be a stepping stone to policy recommendations.

It starts with a keynote report on the legal response to climate protection by the German Federal Ministry of Justice. Then Japanese and German legal scholars will present and discuss issues such as the status of efforts at the level of international law, including the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and their implementation into domestic law, environmental due diligence regulations in the fields of private law and economic law, and trends in discussions in the field of criminal law.
