Globalstars call with Japan 2026

[Deadline: 2027/01/20] This call is open for all R&D projects, excluding technologies associated with nuclear power, pharmaceutical development, and regenerative medicine product development. Examples of scope include, but are not limited to: quantum technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, electronics, energy and environment, biotechnology, new materials, medical devices, aerospace, mining, and other industrial technologies.

Germany funds R&D costs for SMEs, large companies, research organisations, and universities participating in this call.

German funding is provided by the Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) for international collaborative projects in the fields of:

  • Cybersecurity and communications technologies,
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative approaches, methods and tools for software engineering,

provided that there is demonstrable added value compared to purely national projects.

Timeline

  • Apply from: 7 October 2026
  • Submission Deadline: 20 January 2027
  • National funding procedures: 26 April 2027 or after
  • Projects can begin (expected): August 2027

Who can apply for this call

Eureka has eligibility criteria for organisations participating in a Globalstars consortium:

  • Your project idea must represent international cooperation in the form of a specific project.
  • You must direct your project towards researching or developing an innovative product, process or service with the goal of commercialising your project results.
  • Your project must have a civilian purpose.
  • Your consortium must include companies based in at least one Eureka country and Japan.
  • No single organisation or country can be responsible for more than 70% of the project budget.
