[Deadline: 2021/5/31] The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is strengthening research on the social consequences of the Corona pandemic. Funding is being provided for projects in the social sciences and humanities that examine the long-term effects of the Corona crisis and the resulting challenges for society. Comparative approaches are welcomed. Research partners from Japan may participate with their own funds.

Thematic areas:
1. family, generational relations, social coexistence;
2. labour market, work organisations, employment biographies;
3. education system and (educational) pathways;
4. health and challenges for health systems;
5. democracy, political participation, trust in political institutions and the role of the media.

The research projects will examine both new crisis phenomena and challenges that existed before the outbreak of the pandemic, which have intensified in the course of the Corona crisis.
Funding is open to all humanities and social science disciplines, research approaches and methods. Collaboration with life sciences, e.g. public health research, care and prevention research and health sciences is possible.
