3D/4D Technologies and Math-Informatics for Aging Societies – Collaboration between Germany and Japan

On Thursday, September 17, and Friday, September 18, 2026, a workshop organized by Prof. Dr. Motomu Tanaka and supported by the German Science and Innovation Forum (DWIH) Tokyo will bring together researchers, practitioners, and early-career scientists at the Kyoto University Tokyo Office and online (poster).

Germany and Japan share common societal challenges associated with an Aging Society, such as maintaining quality of life and boosting birth rates. The field of Biomedical Science is one of the areas in which both countries can unite their strengths. The workshop aims to provide a forum to discuss “Science and Technology for an Aging Society”, showcasing the frontline of research and development in Germany and Japan, inviting cutting-edge researchers from medicine, materials science, physics, mathematics, and informatics.

To exchange ideas about how industry and academia could address this challenge together, speakers from industry also invited. Finally, next-generation researchers are recruited and supported in building research networks.
