Animal Welfare, One Health and Animal Hoarding

This symposium on Animal Hoarding will bring together researchers and experts from Germany and Japan to discuss this complex social issue from an interdisciplinary perspective. Animal hoarding is often associated with psychological and mental health factors and has far-reaching implications for animal welfare, public health, local communities, and legal systems. In recent years, it has gained increasing attention worldwide, including in Germany and Japan, and addressing this issue requires close collaboration across multiple disciplines.
The symposium will present the latest research findings and practical experiences from the perspectives of animal welfare and One Health. Researchers, official veterinarians, and experts from psychology, public health, social welfare, and law will share their knowledge and insights. By comparing current situations and challenges in Germany and Japan, the symposium will explore potential approaches to addressing this issue from an international perspective.
In addition, the symposium will provide opportunities for new research collaborations and international networking. It will also offer students and early career researchers interested in animal welfare issues at both national and international levels a platform for interdisciplinary learning and exchange.
