The exhibition “Berlin – Hauptstadt der Wissenschaftlerinnen”, which can be seen at the Goethe-Institut Tokyo from 7 to 17 May 2024, sheds light on the work of important women scientists who shaped Berlin not only in research and teaching, but also as a city.

The exhibition shows women who once defied all odds and, as pioneers, paved the way for many subsequent generations of successful female scientists. It gives them the recognition they deserve. And it highlights the work of some of today’s outstanding female researchers who have shaped Berlin not only in research and teaching, but also as a city.

As part of the anniversary “30 Years of City Partnership Berlin-Tokyo 2024”, the Goethe-Institut is inviting the exhibition to Tokyo. It will be on display in Japanese, English and German in the foyer of the Goethe-Institut Tokyo from 7 to 17 May 2024 and is open daily from 12:00 to 19:00 with free admission.

As an accompanying programme, a Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in Japanese will take place in the Goethe-Institut library on 7 and 8 May.
