Pioneers in Japanese – German Hydrogen Research: Meet our Partners in Japan!

Today, we are delighted to introduce Prof. Dr. Mehtap Özaslan and Dr. Frédéric Hasché from the University of Hamburg, Technical Electrocatalysis Laboratory.

Both are frequent guests in Japan and long-standing contributors to the growing German-Japanese exchange in the field of hydrogen and sustainable energy, often visiting for the Smart Energy Week in Tokyo. Over the years, they have built a close collaboration with the University of Yamanashi, fostering valuable academic exchange and joint research activities in hydrogen technologies. A major milestone in this partnership was the opening of the Japanese-European Clean Energy Material Research Hub at the University of Hamburg this March.

We had the pleasure of meeting them shortly before their trip to Fukushima University, where new connections and exciting opportunities for cooperation are already emerging.

Looking forward to seeing where these partnerships and conversations will lead next!
