Future Communication Technologies: Beyond 5G and 6G

From projecting 3D holograms in extended reality to autonomous driving and remote-controlled operations – the next generation of mobile communication technology, Beyond 5G/ 6G has a great innovative potential and can serve as an important foundation for a human-centered, sustainable and inclusive society. As Beyond 5G/6G technologies are expected to be introduced in 2030, both Japan and Germany are accelerating research and development in this field.

The keynote speaker Dr. Hideyuki TOKUDA, President of the prestigious National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), will introduce NICT’s cutting-edge research on the Beyond 5G/6G technologies and outline his vision on the societal effects.

At a subsequent panel discussion, high-ranking German and Japanese experts from government, research, and the private sector will exchange views on expectations and challenges of Beyond 5G/6G technologies and explore the potential for cooperation between Germany and Japan.
